NEW B&B (bed and breakfast (the breakfast part was scrumptious)).
When we finally arrived in Carcassonne after the long two hour car drive from Perpignan the nice French man (we were in the south of France) greeted us into his old B&B called Domaine de Marseilles. Mum chose this place because my granny said that it was amazing which it was.
While we were unpacking the cars the Americans (named Grady (the six year old son), Tilda (the four year old daughter), Emily (the mother) and Pradeep (the dad)) said "We have a surprise for you when we get inside".
New Exciting Presents From The Americans.
When we got inside and the nice French man had showed us around it was time for the "surprise" from the Americans. They came back with two mysterious packages wrapped in blue and gold ribbons. We ripped off the ribbon and looked at the books they had given us. I had gotten Two Hundred Paper Planes To Fold And Fly and Zoe got The Butterfly Colouring Book and a pack of pens. After the great presents we decided to go down to the old town.
Old Town
After the short drive down to the old town Mum showed us to what I thought was a castle. "But I thought we were going to the old town" I said. "We are" Mum replied. Across the drawbridge and into the castle I discovered that mum was right, all the little rooms along the wide cobblestone path had been turned into stores and the castle was actually the old town. After exploring the town for a while, and the actual castle, we had some dinner - our first French meal - and we drove back to our B&B.
Plane After Plane
When we got home before we went to bed I decided to make some paper planes. When I opened the book I quickly skimmed through the two hundred cool designs of paper that i could use to make planes. Each sheet of cool designed paper had a small symbol in the corner telling you what plane they were supposed to be. The different types of planes you could make were: the dart, the jet, the shuttle, the glider, the bug, the coaster and the mantis, I made all seven types that night before I got into my new comfy bed and drifted off to sleep.
New Day
The Scrumptious Breakfast
In the morning when I got up I could smell the beautiful waft of croissants floating up from the kitchen. As I was pulled down stairs and got closer to food I realised the was also bacon. When I was eating my first croissant mum discovered that the person sitting across from us was an American journalist living in Paris who was willing to talk. Mum and her had a very long talk about our and their travels.
Exploring The Walled Old Town
After that we decided to walk down to the castle/old town again, except this time Mum showed us a place where we could walk along the ramparts (like a huge castle wall with a pathway at the top of it so you can walk all the way along). Along the way Zoe, Grady, Tilda and I walked and yelled "Bonjour" to anyone below us in the old town that was listening really hard. No replies.
The ramparts and walls were built to protect the old town and have towers and holes in the wall that are extremely clever - you can angle your bow and shoot arrows wherever you want, but noone can shoot in.
The walk took us to the actual castle where we found a little corridor that led us to an big room where a movie was showing about how the castle was built and who tried to attack it over the years. After that room there was a smaller room with a miniature model of the castle in it. From here we went into the courtyard and then off to lunch. After walking down the windy walkway past houses made a long time ago we finally had a delicious lunch and went home.
